Allspice Crumb Muffins
I recently joined the online baking group Tuesdays with Dorie (even though my name is not on the list yet, I still made my first treat!) The group consists of bakers from all over the world. You have a “host” for the week that picks what you will bake. Everyone in the group posts their treats on their blogs on Tuesday.
All recipes come the book Baking from My Home to Yours by Dorie Greenspan. It is an amazing cookbook! I will say that the book is a little daunting—after all, Dorie is a James Beard award winner!! Once you read through it, you see that it is easy to follow with great pictures!! I think that pictures are a wonderful tool for cookbooks. Being a visual person, I want to know what my creation should look like!
I was so excited when I came across this group online. I don’t know any people that like to bake, or that bake at all. I guess that it is just nice to be able to be in a group where everyone is doing the same thing—even if it is an online baking blog! 🙂
So, my first entry for TWD was to bake All Spice Crumb Muffins. This weeks host is Kayte of Grandma’s Kitchen Table. You can check out her blog for the recipe, or you can run right out and buy the book for all of the baking recipes! I was a tad worried about this one. Not sure why…I mean muffins are not exactly rocket science! I have never made muffins from scratch until now. Omg-these were the easiest things I have ever made!! If you can stir, you can make these muffins! You don’t even have to break out the mixer!!
Here they are going in the oven and coming out of the oven! Look at all of that yummy crumb topping!!
These were a breeze to make and tasted even better!! They were light, but dense at the same time. They had just the right amount of spice and the crumb topping–really, who doesn’t like crumb topping?!? And the smell—I love fall smell and this was delish!! I want to bake with allspice everyday just to have that warm and cozy and oh-so-fall smell all through the house! I will definitely be making these over and over again! My husband has already said that I should make them for Thanksgiving and Christmas!! These muffins would be great anytime of the year and I highly recommend them to you! Enjoy!!
