The Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie
Very few things in life are better than homemade chocolate chip cookies and a cold glass of milk. I absolutely love cookies and milk any time of the day and especially for breakfast! I have been jonesing for chocolate chip cookies lately. And I have been wanting to try a new recipe. I love my cookies—and so does everybody else. But I want a thicker, puffier cookie. I have finally found it!
After scouring blogs and recipe panels, I found a winner. The seller was a picture that looked perfect. The cookie was big and puffy and perfectly golden—all the things you want in a cookie. My cookies would always spread too thin and not be very pretty. This one stayed puffed and didn’t lose it once it had cooled. It was thick and chewy, but crunchy around the edges…truly a perfect cookie!
The cookie I usually make is done in the usual way–the butter is creamed and then mixed with the sugars. For this cookie, the eggs and salt are mixed until pale. Then the melted butter is added in.
I have never used melted butter in a cookie. It seemed weird, but somehow it worked. It was added to the eggs and then the two sugars went in. The flour mixture went in and it all came together to make a buttery, smooth and delicious dough. I added in the mix of chocolate chips—I always use some semi-sweet and some milk. The dough was a little less creamy than others. Some of the chips didn’t want to stick. No biggie…I just scooped them up and popped them on the pan.
These did take awhile to bake—about 16-18 minutes. They cooled on the pan and were then ready to eat with a glass of milk. I am so excited to have found a new cookie recipe. These are not only delicious but beautiful too. I will definitely be using these as my new go-to chocolate chip cookie! Enjoy!!
