Reese’s Krispies

I made these tasty little treats awhile back for hubs to take to work. I saw the recipe on…wait for it…pinterest. What did we do before that site? I mean, really?? I have been checking out blogs for awhile now and have been getting some really great stuff from them. But, pinterest just makes it all so easy.  On any given day I can find 20 new recipes that I want to try.

Anywho…back to the treats.

So I saw these on pinterest and pinned them right away to my baking board and kinda forgot about them. Wanting to make a new treat for his study group and then to go into work, I saw these on my board and knew I wanted to try them out. So easy and yummy, these are rad.

You will want to have everything all ready to go before you start this. It just makes it easier.

Melt the peanut butter, sugar and corn syrup in a big pan. It did take a while for me, but it will eventually become a smooth and cream y mix. Once it is all melted, it come off the heat and in goes the cereal.

With the pb and sugars mixed, take the pan off the heat and dump in the cereal. Mix and mix until the cereal is all coated. Add in the chocolate chips and give it another stir or two. The last thing to go in is the Reese’s cups. The longer you take with this, the more smashed the cereal will get. You want to mix quickly and gently so that the cereal and the Reese’s cups are not all broken up.

I used a big cookie scooper to pile them on the baking sheet. They are free form, so shape really didn’t matter. They went in the fridge to set up and they were done. I could hardly wait to try them. They are crunchy and chewy and have the perfect combo of peanut butter and chocolate. Make these. They are easy to whip up and a hit with the group. Can’t beat it. Enjoy!!

 

Reeses Krispies

1 Cup Sugar
1 Cup Corn Syrup
1 1/3 Cup Creamy Peanut Butter
4 1/4 Cup Rice Krispies
1 Pinch of Salt
4 Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, chopped
1 Handful Chocolate Chips—I used milk chocolate

In a large sauce pan over medium heat, melt the sugar, corn syrup, and peanut butter until smooth and evenly combined.

Remove from heat.
Quickly add the salt and cereal and stir to combine thoroughly. Add the chocolate chips and stir again. Wait about 1 min and add the candy, quickly folding the mixture together so as to not smash up the candy or the cereal.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and drop rounded tablespoons onto the sheet. Pop in the fridge to cool. Try to not eat them all!!
